My Future Job.
To me, I'd like to work in the specific area I study, this are is Orchestral (Symphonic) Percussionist.
It´s a beautiful and magical job, make great music with other musicians is very wonderful experience.
I have been lucky enough to work of "extra" in some orchestras as a percussionist. Although it is a nice job, something I do not like is the exessive "ego", cynicism and certain hostility in the musical artistic environment. Anyway, this job, is one of the only ones that can give economic stability as a musician.
The nature of this work is outdoor. For me this is one of the most incredible features to be a musician. Constantly traveling abroad for tours, to study, contests, etc...
About the salary, like Orchestral Percussionist you get a very good salary, but... it is very very very difficult to find a percussionist job in Symphonic Orchestral. In Chile, there are only two big orchestras and for approximately twenty years that there is no contest for work of percussionist.
Other posibilities is to work doing classes, or work like independent musician. You also get a good salary.
I´d Like very much to keep studying abroad but in another area of musical knowledge as musicology, esthetic, philosophy, sociology and history. For me all this perspectives are very important to be a better musicians and human being.
